Afoko; Agyepong cannot prosecute Agenda 2020 - Agyarko
21.08.2014 LISTEN

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon has downplayed assertions that the party Chairman and General Secretary are scheming to ensure Akufo-Addo does not win the party's presidential primary.

Kwabena Agyarko said if such claims were anything to go by, the decision of the two [Afoko, Agyepong] cannot supersede that of the party delegates.

There have been reports of an Agenda 2020 apparently being championed by the party Chairman and General Secretary.

Per the agenda, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong described as protégés of aspiring flagbearer, Alan Kyerematen will ensure that Akufo-Addo loses the 2016 election to pave way for their preferred candidate in the 2020 general elections.

However, on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Kwabena Agyarko said such allegation must be treated with the contempt it deserves.

In his opinion, no national executive can subvert the will of the people thus “Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong cannot prosecute any agenda”.

“No executive including the Chairman and General Secretary can change the will of the people because the will of the delegates is paramount” he stressed.

Kwabena Agyarko described as “unnecessary” how an in-house matter has metamorphosed into a media war between some national executives.

“Assuming without admitting that the Chairman and General Secretary erred, “the cure for that mischief is in the party's constitution not in the media” he added.

The Ayawaso West Wuogon MP said it is worrying how an opposition party is making a big deal out of  an internal matter instead of keeping the imcompetent Mahama-led government on its toes.

Kwabena Agyarko urged the party to stop the blame game and find a lasting solution to the problem. Story by Ghana/Adomonline.com/Adwoa Gyasiwaa
