State prosecutors have dropped all charges preferred against the Chief Executive of the Kessben Group of Companies, Kwabena Kesse.

There were earlier reports Mr. Kesse was re-arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) minutes after he was discharged by the Accra Circuit Court but his lawyer, Carl Adongo has told  Citi News' Umaru Sanda Amadu his client was just at the BNI headquarters to sign some papers.

The Kesben CEO was charged with money laundering and forgery of documents.

At Wednesday's hearing, state prosecutors announced in open court that they 'were no longer interested in the case and thus, do not wish to continue', reported Amadu.

It is unclear what the state plans to do but sources at the court say prosecutors wish to haul Mr. Kesse before a High Court on new charges.

'Some lawyers I spoke to say that if the Police or the State tells you they are dropping charges against you and they take you back to their offices, then what is means is that he is going to be charged again,' Amadu reported.

Kesse was on July 28 arrested by the BNI   for alleged fraud and money laundering.

He was accused of using one of his companies, KESSBEN Shipping, Forwarding and Trading Ltd. (KSFTL), to facilitate the outward transfer of large volumes of foreign exchange to spurious and phony addresses.

He was later was  granted a bail condition of 350 million cedis with four sureties.
