The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Adaklu constituency of the Volta Region, Raybon-Evans Anyadi, has been accused of defrauding a church – The Overcomers Ministries – at Agortome, a community near Ho, the regional Capital.

The allegation was made by the Founder of the Church, Pastor Noah Normenyo, in a strongly-worded petition DAILY GUIDE chanced upon recently.

The petition, which was presented to the Volta Regional Executives and copied to the National Executives of the NPP, was attached to another petition from the Adaklu Constituency Executives to register a vote of no confidence in Mr. Anyadi. They also demanded the removal of the Chairman whom they described as 'unfit and a dent' on the party's image and hard-won reputation.

The church's petition said 'Mr. Anyadi intellectually and deceitfully convinced them to give him a fundraising money of GH¢760.00 as down payment for the purchase of a set of musical instruments in March this year.'

Mr. Anyadi, who had promised among other things, to bear the cost of the instruments – GH¢2,400.00 - allegedly convinced the church to give him the GH¢760.00, which he purportedly promised to return after receiving his remittances from the Singapore Social Security Fund, but he was said to have reneged on his promise.

He allegedly collected GH¢100.00 from another member of the church, increasing his indebtedness to GH¢860.00

After several requests for a receipt and the instruments, Mr. Anyadi, DAILY GUIDE learned, negotiated with the vendor, one Kudzo Atadi, near the Ho Market Branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank, and eventually presented the instruments to the church.

It was later alleged that the NPP constituency Chairman had pocketed the GH¢760.00 and instead issued personal cheques to the vendor, which bounced three times when they were presented at the bank. He cunningly attributed the bounced cheques to delay in the payment of some money into his account by the National Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko.

However, when Mr. Anyadi was contacted, he scoffed at the allegation and wondered why a man of God, who claims to be anointed, would peddle such falsehood about him to muddy his hard-won reputation.

He indicated that the allegations were unfounded and had lots of factual inaccuracies. He however, conceded that he collected GH¢760.00 from the church and later collected GH¢100.00 from a friend and member of the church, which he claimed was based on a personal agreement.
