Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minister, has accused traders in the country of arbitrarily increasing the prices of their goods to make the Mahama government unpopular, adding that they are doing so because they are members of the NPP.

But third National Vice Chairman of the NPP, Fredrick Fredua Antoh, has described the claim by the minister as 'senseless', wondering if it is the NPP is responsible for the recent hikes in fuel and utility prices, school fees, cement and other essential commodities in the country.

Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, who was speaking on Adom FM's 'Burning Issues,' also insisted that claims by the suffering people that 'times are hard', is not true. According to him, life is rather getting better under the Mahama government.

The NDC Founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings, recently described the economy as “hard”, explaining that cost of school fees and foodstuffs had become so expensive that “you have to count millions just to buy plantain and yams.”

“A carton of milk which used to sell at Ghc35 is now selling at Ghc60. Hmm, it's not easy o,' Mr. Rawlings lamented.

However, the Greater Accra Regional Minister insists the condition is rather getting better, and that the NDC administration is doing its best to ensure economic growth, whose the benefits will soon be seen by all.
