Assam CM Faces Huge Protests In Tense Assam-Nagaland Border

Guwahati, August 18 : Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday faced a series of huge protest from displaced people to various organisations during his visit to tense Assam-Nagalnd border where at least 16 people were killed by alleged Naga miscreants.

When Assam CM accompanied with his cabinet minister Ajanta Neog reached at a relief camp at Uriumghat under Dhansiri sub-division in Golaghat district, more than three thousand displaced people, who took shelter at the relief camp after firing, arson incidents in bordering area had quizzed to CM over the security issue and protested his visit

after a week.
Protesters also shouted 'Go Back CM' in front of Assam CM.

''We had lost everything and faced unsecured since decades from naga miscreants in bordering area. We appealed to Assam government to provide security, but they could not,'' Naren Kerkata, a displaced person said.

Facing protest from displaced people, Asam CM had left from the relief camp during his 10 minutes visit.

Before visit to Uriumghat, Assam CM had faced protest from various organisations at Marioni in Jorhat district.

Meanwhile, at least ten people including woman were injured in police batton charge at Uriumghat.

More than 10,000 displaced people had took shelter at five relief camps at Uriumghat, who fled from their hamlets in tense border.

On other hand, one more body was recovered identified as Rajesh Kaka on Monday morning from Chainpur area, which the death toll increased to 16.

On Sunday, two bodies recovered from tense Assam-Nagaland border area.
