The Youth Of Ghana Say a Big NO To Mahama’s YES: It Is AZAAR They Added

Ghanaian Youth across the country have viewed President Mahama led NDC administration's Youth Enterprise Support Fund (YES) with a pinch of salt. To them anytime Mahama says YES, the answer is a big NO. This Mahama's YES Fund is perceived in the minds and heart of many Ghanaian Youth is an Azaar fund created to cover up the corrupt deals at GYEEDA.

This is an avenue to again stash loot and milk the sick cow for people to dissipate the public funds. The question of the day which remain conspicuously unanswered is, what has happened to the existing funds, bodies, agencies, organs and department and institutions created to address the needs, welfare and challenges of the growing youth population of Ghana?

Some Youth question the motive behind this YES fund and concluded that this is part of the deceptive strategies to influence the Youth of Ghana. They intimated that, the President is using it to appease his disappointed party youth as the President in his speech claimed the creation of the fund is in fulfilment of NDC manifesto pledges. My question then is, Mr. President, what has happened to the one term health insurance premium policy you promised us-the youth?

This President do nothing has staged a constitutional coup de etat and treated our laws with impunity and disrespect. President Mahama has refused to put money into theGETFUND, National Health Insurance Fund, and Road Fund which are funds created with the backing of an act of Parliament. Other funds like the media fund. National Youth fund were abused and misappropriated making it not beneficial to the citizenry.

There are already established funds,bodies,agencies and institutions like the Skills Training and Enterprise programme(STEP),Council for Indigenous Business Agency(CIBA),National Training and Vocational Institute(NVTI),Local Enterprise and Skill Development programme (LESDEP),Venture Capital Fund and otherslike EDIF,SIF,NYF and the Almighty GYEEDA which has been badly financially bruised.

What is the use of all these important platform created to perform the same functions? In my view the functions and roles are heavily overlapping and no need for any new fund to be established at all. President Mahama made it succinctly clear to the Youth of Ghana that he is strategically on the mission to restructure GYEEDA and give it a constitutional backing. The National Youth Authority is with empty hands yet a new office to be created for YES Fund.

The Youth of Ghana is prepared to work at the prevailing wage rate but unable to get job. It is frightening rate of Youth Unemployment situation in Ghana. President Mahama appeared not to have solution to it.

President John Dramani Mahama has undoubtedly been a failure and a disappointment to the youth of Ghana and a plaque on our youthful aspirations, enterprise and exuberance.
