Nairobi (AFP) - Kenya has launched investigation into their 2015 African Nations Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho fearing that they may have been fixed.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) named a seven-member committee on Thursday to probe the 1-0 aggregate loss to Lesotho in the second round of qualifying for the 2015 tournament in Morocco.
"The outcome of the Lesotho fixture on both the home and away legs was not ordinary and the machinations around the two matches left a lot to be desired" FKF said in a press statement.
"The federation is therefore setting up an inquiry with specific terms, but limited to probe match-fixing and/or sabotage."
Following the loss, Kenya's Belgian-born coach Adel Amrouche and his technical staff were fired with former Ugandan coach Bobby Williamson being named to take charge of Harambee Stars.
The investigation comes at a time when the Kenyan government is considering disbanding the FKF for alleged "gross mismanagement" of the national sport.
