Tension Grips Assam-Nagaland Border, As Hundreds Of Families Flee From Border Area

Guwahati, August 13: Tension ran high in Assam-Nagaland border after suspected Naga militants killed at least three persons.

Death toll rose to three after one more body recovered from B-sector under Dhansiri sub division in Golaghat district along Nagaland border on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, suspected Naga militants shot dead two persons and injuring three others.

Meanwhile, hundred of families from Assam side had fled from the tense border area and took shelter at several shelter camps at Uriumghat in Golaghat area.

On other hand, suspected Naga miscreants had torched at least 70 houses in the Assam side bordering villages on Tuesday night.

Security forces had deployed at the tense area.

Assam and Nagaland governments appealed to the people of both states to calm the situation.

The incident sparked after two minor boys were kidnapped by suspected Naga militants and local residents from Assam side on Tuesday protest against the abducted incident.
