Dear Editor

REJOINDER AGAINST THE “UNITED CADRES' FRONT (UCF)” 'ENDORSING' NANA KONADU AGYEMANG RAWLINGS TO LEAD THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC) IN THE 2016 ELECTION

The United Cadres' Front (UCF) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has listened to your news item of mid-day August 7, 2014, and subsequent news casts which sought to create the impression that the group has tipped the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to lead the Congress if she returns to it.

To set the record straight, your station requested the General Secretary, Comrade Efanam Nyaku Felix, to grant your station an interview pertaining to Nana's recent political comments on the NDC and whether she stood the chance of leading the Congress in 2016.

The response of the General Secretary was to the effect that Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, being a former member, if she returns and conducts herself well – constitutionally has the right to contest just as any other member of the Congress and may stand the chance of leading it.

What has been explained above does not in any way connote our endorsement of the former First Lady to lead the Congress in the coming 2016 presidential election.

We wish to express our sincerest gratitude to your station for objectively reporting on our day-to-day activities unlike others who have made it a policy not to report on us. That notwithstanding, we feel this very last capture is 'a hit below belt' and wish to register our utmost displeasure.

By this communication we humbly appeal to you to rectify the misinformation by giving it prominence in your week-days bulletins in the coming week.

It is also worth stating to you and other media houses that our loyalty for now is to the President of the Republic of Ghana and the current leadership of the NDC.

Thank you.

Yours in the struggle of the people,

Signed
For: General Secretary
Camillus Maalneriba-Tia-Sakzeesi (Dep. Gen. Secretary)
