Red And Black Thursday - What It Means For Me

Red And Black Thursday - What It Means For Me
01.08.2014 LISTEN

Dr. K.A. Busia and his PP administration were overthrown by politicians under military disguise because of the devaluation of the cedi.

General Kutu Acheampong and his SMC I were overthrown in a palace coup d'état by self-seeking colleagues, who wanted to distance themselves from a clearly failed regime and thus save themselves from public opprobrium.

General Akufo and his SMC II administration were overthrown by elements in the armed forces fuming with self-righteous indignation who felt the sins of 'criminals' would never catch up with them under the then in-coming political dispensation.

Dr. Hilla Limann and his PNP administration were overthrown by a group of misguided bootleggers in society, who were looking for opportunity to pay society back for its own failings.

Never in the annals of this country have the good people of this country witnessed anything more odious, unpalatable, fraudulent and unbearable in their lives than under the current John Dramani Mahama NDC administration.

Indeed, none of the reasons which provoked the past coup d'états in this country come near to the suffering of Ghanaian presently.

The incompetent John Mahama administration engages in massive corrupt practices with impunity.

I would want to remind my readers of the saying of Prof. James Watson which I have often quoted in this column. Prof. James Watson is quoted to have said: 'I am inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa because all our social policies are based on the fact that their (black people) intelligence is the same as ours (white people) - whereas all the testing says not really….you should not discriminate on the basis of colour, because there are many people of colour who are very talented, but don't promote them when they haven't succeeded at the lower level'.

The apparatchiks of the NDC wrongly believe that they have conquered judgment day.

The way in which the NDC apparatchiks rush to the media to defend a clearly failed political administration is incredulous and smacks of insanity.

Currently, they are many usurpers with criminal minds who possess little intellect and with no education in state craftsmanship and nation building, who are managing critical and sensitive state institutions, a situation which can never happen in the developed countries.

Prof Watson said, 'Don't promote them when they haven't succeeded at the lower level.'

The list of NDC political appointees taking decision for the country looks like a chapter from Gulliver's Travels while in the land of Lilliputians.

NDC apparatchiks want the whole world to believe that John Dramani Mahama went through the mill to prepare himself for the highest office of the land. What they fail to understand is that in Africa there are too many people who have passed through education but education never passed through them.

Yes John Dramani Mahama certainly went through the mill but the mill never went through him.

Just take a cursory look at John Dramani Mahama's the political appointees who are currently mismanaging the affairs of the nation. You do not need a fine tooth comb to go through their background.

The only qualification they possess is that by accident of history, they were born and raised in a political environment where law and order had broken down.

At that time, the political philosophy driving persons who captured the commanding heights of national affairs was the creation of well-oiled corruption machineries which could be used to loot and share the nation's resources among themselves.

They were born and brought up at a time when a pale face opinionated cuss professional failure and a group of intellectuals with mischievous brains fired on by ultra-tribal sentiments took over helm of affairs of the country.

Most of the current NDC political appointees who voluntarily became the newly-born again disciples of the old evil dwarfs and greedy bastards of looting brigade have also succeeded in joining the brigade.

They learned quickly from their mentors and developed mediocre personalities, and today have metamorphosed into greedy bastards, babies with sharp teeth, leeches, parasites, thieves, liars.

These are the people who are making strategic decisions for the nation. The whole situation would have been ludicrous were it not so tragic.

Take a journey into the past and witness the folly which went on at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital before an incompetent chief executive officer was sacked under John Dramani Mahama NDC administration.

As Peter Druker said, a crisis which reoccurs is a sign of poor management. One thought that the John Dramani Mahama NDC administration had learnt a lesson from Kumasi.

However, look at the utter confusion which took place at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital before a self-acclaimed man of God who was making a nuisance of himself was booted out after a lot of damage had been caused.

Common sense should dictate that the supervising minister in charge of health who became part of the problem and the entire Korle-Bu board should have been thrown out with the dirty bath water to give the newly appointed acting chief executive a new slate to work with.

The handling of the Korle-Bu crisis wholly reflects the greed, fraud, corruption, mismanagement, lack of accountability and integrity  the incompetence which have characterized the entire period of the NDC political administration and particularly the John Dramani Mahama NDC administration.

The challenges confronting the country are a combination of many self-inflicted factors.

Some voters have failed to see through the political chicanery in the numerous propaganda messages spewed out by the NDC during the political campaign.

The excessive emotional attachment to ethnicity by some voters despite the obvious continuous degradation in their lifestyles, the inability of the intellectual class to lead the clean-up of the unjust electoral system and the ponderous 1992 Republican Constitution serves the interest of an emerging political dynasty the PNDC bequeathed to the nation.

All these have prevented Ghanaians from seeing wisdom in Prof. Watson's statement.

A little bit of history should do John Dramani Mahama NDC administration some good. History has a wonderful way of repeating itself.

The storm which gathered before General Kutu Acheampong and his SMC I were overthrown is  in place currently. Again, all the successful overthrows of political administrations in this country have taken place on Thursdays. Thus I heaved a sigh of relief when the TUC woke up from its deep slumber and declared Thursday, July 24, a red and black Thursday where all the oppressed and suffering workers would take to the street to show their anger and their opposition to the incompetent John Dramani Mahama NDC administration. From press reports, the demonstration achieved massive success all over the country except in Ho, the Volta Region capital where the people displayed lukewarm attitude.

I hope the John Dramani Mahama NDC administration will save itself and its numerous propagandists the trouble of moving from one media house to another to spew out lies and distort history.

They should rather spend some time analyzing some of the inscriptions on the placards the demonstrators carried.

I was certainly enthused by the following inscriptions: 'John Dramani Mahama, Judgment Debt Man', 'John Mu Jon!! Is This Your Idea of Saving Ghana' and 'When Stealing Becomes The Norm, Rebellion Becomes A Duty'.

The last one should be of great interest to the Godfather- the failed apostle of probity, accountability and transparency who gave birth to this Frankenstein monster called NDC and who seems to have gone into purdah.

A mighty wind shall blow. If one combines the 'Wear Red on Fridays' and 'Occupy the Flagstaff House' campaigns then indeed the mighty wind has started blowing.

Erle Stanley Gardner, a great novelist, wrote a story book entitled, 'Fools Die on Friday.'

Unless a miracle happens during these sinful times or the usurpers have a change of heart and turn to the Ever Gracious Ever Merciful Allah in humble supplication, Fools will certainly die on Thursday, Isha Allah and not on Friday.
