The Ashanti regional director of programme of the National Commission for Civic Education, Mr. Asamoah Badu and the Adansi-South district director of the commission, Mr. Willie Klutse have jointly added their names and educational resources and voices to the historic maiden national conference for traditional priests held in Kumasi at the plush and luxurious Golden Tulip hotel on Tuesday, 29th July, 2014.

At the conference with the theme ' Traditional Culture, Diversity and Development- (Issues, Needs and Potentials), the duo took the opportunity to educate the participants on Ghana's constitution and the rights and responsibilities of all religious groups in the country. Participants were educated on the rights of all individuals as enshrined in the constitution's religious freedom and the importance of religious diversity.

In his speech, Mr. Asamoah Badu stressed the importance and relevance of traditional culture and faith practice in the contemporary Ghana and the recognition that the government gives the priesthood in the constitution. He congratulated all the hard working and responsible traditional priests who are honestly healing people physically, emotionally and spiritually. He challenged all of them to live by the tenets and taboos that their respective shrines prescribe to them and to work in honesty and truth.

On his part, Mr. Willie Klutse thanked the organizers for the vision of inviting the NCCE to be part of such an august national event. He said, the 21st Century world today rests on information and that there is the need for constant education to be sought for. He reasoned with the participants that the need for strengthening of their capacities with resources and knowledge is timely and that they should make individual as well as collective efforts to get more knowledge all the time. He said, ' knowing one's rights under the constitution prevents many legal issues and problems which can easily be avoided'.

During her speech, Miss Felicia Okai, the director of the Centre for Human Development and Social Change, Ghana aka CHDSCGhana, one of the collaborative hosting organizations, commended the NCCE team for the enthusiastic way that they offered the professional development programme. She said, the participants by their smiling faces and the attention they paid to the speakers is indicative of how they appreciate their educational offerings and support. In her appeal, she asked that the NCCE sustains its collaborations with the CHDSCGhana to continue to offer quality professional development programmes for the communities.
