Police are investigating the death of a class six pupil who committed suicide at Juaso in the Asante Akyem-South District of the Ashanti Region.

Fourteen-year-old Omane Acheampong, also known as Atta Panyin, of the local Methodist Primary School was found hanging on a rope tied to a pear tree in the early hours of Wednesday.

Explaining why the death of the fourteen-year-old may be homicide, some family members revealed the boy dreaded a curse invoked on him by a female friend during an argument over a musical disc.

The family claimed similar circumstances had led to the death of the boy's sister.

Luv FM's Erastus Donkor, reports that the parents found their deceased son hanging on a rope to the pear tree ten metres from their residence.

Juaso District Police Commander, Samuel Latebu, confirmed to reporters that they initially ruled the homicide as suicide but however they would conduct further investigations to inquire the cause of death.

“His tongue was protruding which indicates he committed suicide, but I cannot hundred per cent confirm whether he was murdered and hanged there or what, that is why I am saying that we want to conduct investigation and know the cause of his death,” the Commander stated.

Currently the mother of the deceased has been admitted at the Juaso Government Hospital after she collapsed at the sight of her son's lifeless body.
