Four rooms on the 6th Floor of Unity Hall, Block B at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi have been gutted by fire.
A student, Hammond Kwabena Jamal told Citi News that the fire started around 3pm.
'As about 3:00pm I got information that the block was on fire so I decided to rush down there. When I got there and one of the rooms was on fire, that was Block B, the sixth floor I don't know the exact room number.'
He said the Fire Officers have arrived at the scene to put the fire out.
'It started for a while and after about 15 minutes the Fire Service reported, and then they were trying to get the water into the room but it was proving quite difficult. After a while the fire got into the next room. As at now I can say four rooms are burnt. The fire stopped by itself but the fire service personnel are still here,' he added.
The extent of damage and the cause of the fire are yet to established.
