London July 29th 2014. More affluent Ghanaians are consuming BBC content every month than any other international news brand, according to Ipsos' latest EMS survey*.

The study shows that the BBC's integrated cross-platform news offering, which includes BBC World News and BBC.com, are used by almost three quarters (74%) of affluent Ghanaians each month.

Jim Egan, CEO for BBC Global News Ltd, said, 'Over the past year we have greatly enhanced our news offering for audiences in the region with investment online and on TV. It includes a raft of new African presenters, the launch of programmes such as Africa Business Report to complement our flagship daily news programme Focus on Africa, and the creation of a dedicated business unit.'

He added, 'The fact that we are the number one choice in Ghana shows that the improvements we have made are translating into a growing, increasingly loyal audience.'

On Friday 1st August, BBC World News will turn its focus to Ghana with coverage throughout the day and special reports and high profile interviews on Africa Business Report and Focus on Africa. Presenter Lerato Mbele will be in Accra looking at the challenges currently facing the country's economy and asking what life is like for ordinary Ghanaians as the cost of living rises.

Africa Business Report broadcasts on BBC World News on Fridays at 16.40 and 18.40 and Saturdays at 20.10. Focus on Africa broadcasts on BBC World News, Monday - Friday at 17.30.
