The managemenT of Zuria FM, a popular radio station in Kumasi, has presented beautifully designed pieces of clothing with a pair of footwear to match to about 700 orphans.

The presentation was to help bring joy and smiles unto the faces of the orphans, selected from all over Kumasi, during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

Zuria FM also presented foodstuff, assortment of soft drinks and some amount of money to the beneficiaries.

The radio station had over the last 10 years extended a helping hand to orphans during Eid- ul-Fitr celebrations.

Alhaji Haruna Abu, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zuria FM, said, 'It is more blessed to offer a helping hand to the needy we decided to supply clothing, shoes, sandals and food to the orphans every year.'

He disclosed to the DAILY GUIDE that he has plans of setting up a school to educate orphans free of charge so that they would grow to become influential people in society in future.

Hajiya Suwaiba, wife of the Zuria FM CEO, tasked the well-todo in society to always donate to the needy, stressing that the Holy Quran preaches about the need for the needy to be helped by the rich.

She said the station donated part of the money and also solicited for help from its listeners to purchase the items for the orphans, promising that Zuria FM would also assist the poor and needy.

Yussif Abdul Ganiyu, aka Alhaji Shola, promotions manager of Zuria FM, said the 700 orphans were picked from the various orphanages and homes in the city 'to help make them mark the festivities like any other children.'

Alhaji Shola said the donation formed part of Zuria FM's corporate social responsibilities, adding that Zuria FM and Zab Citizen, a group, would organise another mega party for the orphans.
