Napo Supports Yoruba Chief

The donation by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP was aimed at helping the Yoruba chief to reconstruct his palace, which was gutted by a ferocious inferno at Alabar in Kumasi on June 13, 2014.

Napo also presented 60 bags of cement and roofing sheets to the Watania Amiriya Islamic School at Alabar to help boost the school's infrastructure.

The Manhyia MP, supported by NPP stalwarts like Alhaji Abuba and Helena Owusu Pinaman, made the donation at Alabar on Friday before a crowd of Zongo chiefs and Muslim clerics.

In his succinct remarks after the presentation, Napo said the people of Manhyia South were shocked by the destruction of the chief's palace.

Napo said when he initially visited the distraught Yoruba chief, he promised to support the reconstruction of the palace, adding that 'the presentation is in fulfillment of my firm promise to the chief.'

The Manhyia South MP said the donation to the Watania Islamic School would go a long way to help in the expansion of the school, promising to provide the school with computers soon.

Napo announced that he had instituted a scholarship scheme to help 10 brilliant but needy students in the Zongo communities in his constituency to access education at the secondary school level.

The legislator said he had prioritized the development of the Zongo communities to help the children.

Alhaji Hamed Rufai Alawo, in a speech read on his behalf, commended Napo for assisting the people in the Zongo communities, urging him to sustain his good works.

The Headmaster of Watania Islamic School, Issah Abubakar, said Napo's donation was timely, noting that the items would help the school to execute its projects.
