A 16-member Executive Council of the Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) has been inducted into office with a two-year mandate.

It has the Chief Executive of Innova DDB Ghana, Joel Edmund Nettey as its president, Mansah Anowa, Vice-President and Martin Osei, Treasurer.

Ten other individuals and companies elected as members into the Executive Council will inducted into office by High Court Judge Justice Mrs. Naa Adoley Azu.

They also took the Oaths of Office and Secrecy at an impressive dinner held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra.

Speaking on behave of the new executives, Joel Nettey promised to act with integrity, probity, accountability and transparency in pursuit of their business objectives.

He also pledged their commitment to ensure the needs of all interest groups in the association, including media agencies, outdoor companies, production houses, creative agencies and individual members are met.

Mr. Nettey also urged members to participate in the International Advertising Association Africa Congress being hosted by AAG in Accra this year. The conference dubbed “Africa Rising – The New Consumer Generation” starts from November 12 to 14.

Meanwhile, President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), James Asare-Adjei underscored the need  for the government to adopt targeted tax policy to discourage the importation of raw materials to encourage local businesses.

“Our manufacturing sector, which forms an important nexus in our industrial cluster, has often borne the brunt of the influx of imports” he added.

Mr. Asare-Adjei urged AAG encourage the promotion of  made-in-Ghana goods because “our local brand deserves a prime airtime and space in our supermarkets and can compete with the foreign brands when the necessary attention is given”.
