Two people are on admission at the Bolgatanga Hospital after a vehicle being driven by the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Daniel Syme, knocked them down Thursday night.

The two, 37 year old Robert Abuley and a woman, were riding a motorbike when they were hit by the speeding vehicle.

Robert is in critical condition at the intensive care unit, according to Joy News' Albert Sorie.

Brother of Robert claimed the minister sped off after the incident but was given a hot chase by some persons around.

“When we got him and asked why he was running away after the incident he told us he thought it was a donkey he knocked,” Robert's brother narrated to Albert.

The witness later claimed the minister was drunk, an allegation Myjoyonline.com cannot immediately confirm.

Meanwhile, Mr. Daniel Syme on Friday visited the victims at the hospital where they are being treated but is yet to make any comment.

“I tried to speak to him but he declined comment,” Albert Sorie told Francis Abban on the Joy FM Midday News, Friday adding that the Deputy Minister has agreed to bear the cost of treatment of the victims.
