Mr James Zuugah Tiigah, the new Upper East Regional Minster is a self-motivated and result oriented individual who is able to organize, analyze and meet operational deadlines. He is believed to work well under pressure and is capable of handling a diversity of responsibilities simultaneously. He is a team player and has extensive experience in public sector treasury management.

His career objective is to use the managerial skills acquired over the years to assist in developing sound public sector treasury management.

He attended the Kpikpira L/A School for his elementary and middle education. He continued at the Bawku Senior High School and the Accra Workers College for his GCE 'O' and 'A' Level education. He also attended Hendon Business and Secretarial College, North London where he acquired certificate in Windows 98 and in Excel2000 Proficient. Mr Zuugah further gained a certificate in Administration and Management and Bachelor degree in Public Administration all from the Ghana Institute of Public Administration (GIMPA).

He has also acquired a certificate in Public Sector Financial Management at the JFK School of Governance, Harvard University.

Mr. Tiigah started his service to the nation as a cashier in the Ministry Treasury in 1977-1983 and was latter attached to a committee at the Office of the Chairman of the PNDC whose sole purpose was to audit the financial accounts of second cycle institutions till 1985 where he was made the Deputy Head of the Fuel Unit assisting as a liaison in distributing GOIL fuel and coupons.

From 1990-1995, he held two prestigious positions in the Ghana High Commission, London. He was made the Deputy Treasury Officer from 1990-1992 and Chief Treasury Officer. He also become the Head of Accounts in the Ministry of Youth and Sports from 1996to 2001 where he was then made the head of Section for the Departmental Accounting Unit- Treasury Headquarters till 2004.

Mr. Tiigah in late 2004 became the Chief treasury Officer for the Ministry Of Health Treasury where he helped in disbursing the ministry's GoG Budget allocation and maintaining the treasury ledgers and account books. His mission at the Ministry Of Health ended when he was made the Chief Cashier at CADG Headquarters due to the good work he did in his previous workplaces.

In September 2007, he acquired the position of Head of Monitoring at the Controllers and Accountant - General Departments Monitoring Section where he coordinated all planning efforts aimed at fulfilling the minimum annual coverage requirement of the Monitoring Section. After 3yrs of service, he became the Chief Treasury Officer of the Permanent Mission of Ghana to United Nations until his appointment as minister by the President. He was also the principal advisor to the Head of Mission on financial matters and also maintains the books of accounts of the Mission.

Mr. James Tiigah also has held other positions as being the chairman and co-chairman for CAGD Welfare Association and CLOSAG Welfare Committee respectively. He was also the Head of Accounts for the Kwame Nkrumah Centenary Celebration Planning Committee.

He has chalked several achievements including being a core member of the Treasury Realignment Team and was voted in two consecutive years as the best worker in the Treasury Division of CAGD.

He was also the first Runner up Best Civil Servant for the year 2009.

Mr James Zuugah Tigah whose hobbies includes reading, playing football and snooker, swimming and walking hopes to bring his vast experience to bear for the development of the Upper East Region and the nation as a whole.
