The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in Germany, Mr Kwaku Anane-Gyinde has stated that the spate of demonstrations by ordinary Ghanaians coupled with the current labour unrest across the country reflect lack of confidence in the Mahama administration and its capacity to manage the crisis facing the country.

Speaking on 'Face to Face' programme on the Bremen-based Ghana Waves Radio, Mr Anane-Gyinde noted that the current economic crisis is as a result of irresponsible and reckless government spending, unprecedented levels of corruption and the lack of decisive leadership at the time it mattered most.

According to him, in the midst of such crisis the least Ghanaians expect is for government to provide a clear sense of direction and a road map as to how the country can get itself from the mess in which it finds itself adding 'unfortunately, the government does not seem to have a clear idea, plan or strategy to resolve the crisis apart from the empty rhetoric and loose talk which have become its trade marks'

Mr Anane-Gyinde observed that the demonstrations are not likely to end any time soon because the underlying factors, including the hourly depreciation of the cedi, hyperinflation as reflected in the high cost of living and government inability to meet important statutory payments have all remained resolved. 'The discontent and apprehension among the populace, if anything, is more likely to intensify and become more widespread as government is unable to come out with concrete measures and practical solutions' he added.

According to the National Organiser, the current crisis should serve as a reminder to all Ghanaians to elect competent and credible leaders who have the right policies and programmes to move the country forward adding that the problems confronting Ghana is an indictment of a failed government with failed policies.
