NPP Klottey Korle Chairman Prepares Polling Station Executives

The NPP constituency chairman of the Klottey Korle constituency have organized a five day training program to build the capacity of its polling station executives in order to prepare them physically and mentally over the task ahead to wrestle power from the incumbent government come 2016 general elections.

Ghana, after the 2012 general elections recorded a historical landmark case of legal tussle between the two biggest political parties, NDC and NPP over issues surrounding the outcome of the elections at the Supreme Court.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) petitioned the competent court of jurisdiction over what they described as electoral fraud indicating that the results of the general elections were plagued with discrepancies.

The NPP officially rejected the final results of the election, claiming 'massive irregularities and malpractices' during the vote, hence requested the Supreme Court to nullify the results.

The Nine-member panel, after an eight-month of an all-out battle at the Supreme Court, dismissed the petitioned filed by the 2012 NPP flagberarer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and two others contesting the legitimacy of John Dramani Mahama's victory.

In that sense, about 780 pollen station executives and coordinators are currently undergoing a training program to build their capacity and how to defend the party before and during elections.

The constituency chairman of Klottey Korle, Nii Noi Nortey said they are providing the training to every polling station executive on vote canvassing, mobilization and how to monitor the data base system of every electoral area.

The event, notwithstanding, will also enable members to understand the history of the party, the ideologies and the electoral processes even during registration and voting.

Addressing the polling station executives, he expects that members are able to gather the knowledge and courage in order to stand firm to defend the party during elections and how to communicate the campaign messages to all citizens at the constituency.

'If you've put people in such positions to manage the party at the pollen station you have to train, equip, resourced them with the knowledge and ideologies of the party as well as educate them on electoral processes,' the constituency chairman has stated.

He said this under the theme, 'Strengthening the grassroots structures for victory 2016' at Adabraka in Greater Accra.

He indicated that the gesture is the maiden however, series of programs would be organized to retool particularly, the pollen agents in order to sharpen their minds to wrestle power from the 'confused' NDC government.

The constituency chairman has assured that he will deliver the constituency to the party this time around come 2016 general elections.
