NPP can promise heaven on earth, but NDC will win 2016 elections - Ametor Quarmyne
23.07.2014 LISTEN

A member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eric Ametor Quarmyne has scoffed at what he says is a clandestine attempt by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to incite Ghanaians against government.

According to him, the desperate attempt by the NPP to paint a picture of doom and gloom will be an exercise in futility.

Pressure on government continues to grow as the Trades Union Congress,  the umbrella body of workers unions in Ghana, announced a one-day nationwide sit-down strike on Thursday July 24, 2014 to protest the worsening living conditions

Fuel price hikes, utility price hikes, depreciating currency with a relatively static wages have conspired to increase the cost of living leaving Ghanaians unhappy about the economy.

Early in the month, a group of middle-class Ghanaians marched to the Flagstaff House to deliver a 21-point petition to the President urging greater action on many problems they have identified.

Some government spokespersons and officials have fingered the opposition as masterminding these unrests.

Weighing in on the issue on Asempa FM's 'Ekosii Sen' last Tuesday, Ametor Quarmyne said , given the prudent measures being put in place to address the current economic challenges, “NPP can do its propaganda but we have the platform”.

Mr. Ametor Quarmyne who is also a consultant at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) was confidence in spite of the economic challenges; the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be retained in power in 2016.

He bemoaned what he says is the penchant of the NPP to always take advantage of the challenges in government for partisan political interest.

“The NPP should not delude themselves into thinking that the 2016 elections will be a coo chop because given the prudent measures being put in place, all the challenges we are facing will be over before 2016” he added.
