Recognized elders of the Sempe Stool led by the legitimate Chief of Sempe, Nii Adote Obuor II, have distanced themselves from pronouncements made by some 'Sempe Chiefs and elders' warning the Mayor and the Assembly from carrying out a legally-backed demolition exercise at Akokorfoto in Dansoman.

They have therefore given the Mayor of Accra, Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije the green-light to carry out the demolition without fear or favour since it is backed by an order from a competent Court of jurisdiction.

The chief and elders of Sempe who, today, paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Accra expressed grave disappointment in the way and manner some people claiming to be chiefs and elders, try to foment trouble and mar the already existing peace in the various communities.

The legitimate Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Obuor II expressed disgust at the recent publications that alleged that some Sempe Chiefs and elders are against the intended demolition of Akokorfoto.

According to him, the said press release issued in the name of the Sempe Chiefs and elders, was done by nobody but people who are out there to retard the progress and development of the Sempe community.

Nii Adote Obuor II also took the opportunity to hand over a High Court Judgement which was delivered on June 20th, declaring him, Nii Adote Obuor II, as the legitimate Sempe Mantse, to the Mayor and expressed the hope that the Assembly will recognize him as such.

According to the Sempe Mantse, the good works of the Mayor and the Assembly are being manifest all over the City, expressing reservations to those who pretend not to see what the Mayor and his people are doing for Accra in the areas of Education, Health, Sanitation among others.

Further setting the records straight, the Principal Sempe Stool Secretary, also noted that they, elders of Sempe, knew nothing about the said publications, indicating that there is no way they, as leaders of Sempe, will fight the Mayor and the Assembly in such matters.

He therefore disassociated themselves from the publication and implore the Mayor and the Assembly to follow due process, look at the Mandamus ordering them to carry out the demolition and do so in the interest of development.

"Our hands are clean, we know nothing about that publications," he said.

The Mayor of Accra, Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, who received the Sempe Chief and his elders, said the assembly wholeheartedly received the judgement recognizing Nii Adote Obuor II as the legitimate Sempe Mantse.

He also expressed the fact that the intended demolition of Akokorfoto was based on a Court order served on the A.M.A which in all extent must be carried out.

The Mayor averred that the Assembly as an institution and a developing authority will do all it can to ensure that the communities it serves see total development and that any attempt by group of people to stall that agenda will not be harboured.

Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije assured Nii Adote Obuor II and his people that the assembly will continue to push its developmental agenda forward especially in areas of education, health and sanitation.

The Assembly, he stated, welcomes the needed relationship that will exist between the Sempe Stool and the Assembly towards development, and assured the elders that their doors will be opened to work with anyone who is recognized as a Chief, and that the relationship that Sempe Chief begun with the Assembly will be strengthened for the better.

"We will also respect the judgement given to us and further improve and develop Sempe," he said.

He also appealed to them to ensure a peaceful Homowo celebrations as he wished them well.
