We the Northern Young Democrats wish to extend our sincerest gratitude to His Excellency President John Mahama for appointing Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah as the Minister of Trade and Industry. As a group that has always championed the clarion call for the NDC government to bring Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah and other experienced NDC hands on board, we are of the firm conviction that Spio's vast experience will be brought to bear on the Trade and Industry Ministry so as to help the NDC prosecute its Better Ghana Agenda.
We believe that the strong networks that Dr pio-Garbrah has established from his far and wide travels would help attract the right investments for the country. We believe his excellent organisational and communication skills will enable him to more effectively package, brand and sell the GHANAIAN BRAND on the competitive tables of the continental and international markets.
Our firm belief in his ability and readiness to deliver stems from his outstanding performance as a minister and then ambassador in the government of His Excellency former President Jerry John Rawlings. We also recall his exemplary performance as CEO of the Commonwealth Telecoms Organisation, making all of us Ghanaians very proud.
Finally, we wish to call on Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah to endeavour to work assiduously so as to help rescue Ghana from its current economic gloom and ensure another term in office for our great NDC. After some 8 years in opposition under President Kufuor and then nearly six years of internal exile in his own party, Uncle Spio will need all his political skills to mend fences with various interest groups so as to be able to perform well. President Mahama has also at long last proven that he can be his own man, make his own appointments, and not allow himself to be threatened by any groups or factions within NDC, as they did to President Mills.
Long live Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah!! Long live President Mahama !! Long live the NDC !!Long live Ghana!!
