Cambridge, MA - On July 1, 2014, Harvard College Social Innovation Collaborative's (SIC) Summit Committee launched its new international program, Village to Raise a Child, to invite five young entrepreneurs from around the world to come to this fall's annual Igniting Innovation Summit at Harvard and showcase their projects. The participants will gain tools and mentorship to grow their community-based projects and ideas.

This program was the brainchild of the Co-Directors of the Summit, Claudine Cho and Jane Chung; Director of Operations, MichiFerreol; and Director of Innovation, Renan Carneiro. These undergraduates envisioned an international presence at the Summit, which is in its fifth year.

These five youth will be high schoolers, or the equivalent. Any student from any country is welcome to apply. The five selected participants will each be from a different global region. The selection process includes an application, a voting period on applicant videos, and finalist interviews. A SIC faculty adviser will weigh in on the judging of applications and interviews. Because SIC cannot guarantee the travel fees to Harvard, accepted participants will be encouraged to create their own crowd-sourcing platform to fund at least part of their trip.
