President Mahama Consoles Jomoro Flood Victims

Bonyere(W/R),July 19,GNA- President John Dramani Mahama has presented relief items worth GHC22,000 to flood victims in the Jomoro District of the Western Region.

The assorted items are 30 bags of rice,25 gallons of cooking oil,35 bags of maize and 5 bags of sugar. The Minister for Energy and Petroleum Resources,Mr.Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah presented the items to affected communities on behalf of President Mahama.

It will be recalled that some communities in the Jomoro District were recently hit hard by flood due to torrential rainfall.

The natural disaster,reportedly affected 6000 people which claimed one life and displaced 500 others,also destroyed farmlands.

Making the donation,Mr Kofi Buah who is also the MP for Ellembelle said the donation forms part of President Mahama's humanitarian gesture to the people in the wake of such natural disaster.


He said the President will dispatch engineers to assess the situation and look at the drainage system in the area to deal with the outbreak of mosquitoes and flies emanating from the flood in the area and forestall any such future eventuality.

Mr. Kofi Buah assured the affected communities that government was solidly behind them in these trying moments.
