Olivia Mensah  and Isaac Arkoh
THE POLICE have arrest two siblings who allegedly conspired to cash an amount of GH¢1,000 sent by a friend to a doctor through MTN Mobile Money.

The suspects are Olivia Mensah, a student and Isaac Arkoh, a computer technician – all residents of Agape near Ablekuma, in the Greater Accra Region.

They were alleged to have stolen the MTN Mobile Money token and secret code of a victim to cash the money in her (victim's) account.

Suspects have since admitted to the offence and have been charged for stealing.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Abraham Acquaye, Odorkor District Police Commander, said the incident occurred on July 8, 2014.

He said the complainant, Rejoice Blewusi, is an administrative officer at Akim State College, Oda in the Eastern Region.

The complainant, on July 7, 2014, was asked by his director to transfer the GH¢1,000 through MTN Mobile Money from her phone number and send the token and the secret number to one Dr. Simons through to withdraw.

Chief Superintendent Abraham Acquaye disclosed that on July 8, 2014, the complainant received an SMS indicating that the amount had been cashed.

She called her director to inform him that the receiver had cashed the money and so the director also called the doctor to verify only to be told by the doctor that he did not cash the money.

The complainant was notified and she contacted MTN office only to be told that the money was cashed at Awoshie Agape in Accra with merchant bank number 0542074136 and personal information as Christian Asante.

A report was made to the Odorkor police and Christian Asante was apprehended.

Upon interrogation, Christian told the police that suspects Olivia Mensah and Isaac Arkoh came to cash the said money but he did not know their places of abode.

Another cash of GH¢550.00 was deliberately sent through Mobile Money to suspect Isaac Arkoh's phone to bait him.

When he visited the same centre with intent to cash the money, he was apprehended.

He also led police to his house where suspect Olivia Mensah lived and she was also apprehended.

Upon interrogation, Olivia admitted to the offence and stated that her boyfriend, Sammy, gave her the token and the secret code to cash the money.

She has since failed to lead the police to nab the said Sammy to assist in their investigations.

The two are being prepared for court, Chief Superintendent Acquaye added.
