Rejoinder: Alan Boys To Defect From The NPP
18.07.2014 LISTEN

Fellow Ghanaians,
Our attention has once again been drawn to a malicious statement being circulated on social media by unknown elements, which seeks to drag the name of Hon. Alan Kyerematen and members of GAKE into disrepute. The statement which is very insulting to the personality of Nana Addo and drags his hard-won reputation in the mud, also suggests that, Alan's supporters are planning to defect from the NPP should Alan fail to get the nod. It is further aimed at sowing seed of discord between the NPP delegates and Alan Kyerematen.

We, members of Get Alan Kyerematen Elected (GAKE) have verified the authenticity of the said statement and would like to put on record that neither myself as the National Coordinator nor any member of GAKE has come out with such statement. In fact, this is the fourth time such diabolic statements have appeared on social media. The aim of the collaborators, I believe, is not only to court public hatred for members of GAKE led by Katakyie Opoku Agyemang, but also Alan Kyerematen as his message seems to get down well with the delegates.

It must be noted that since the formation of GAKE about two months ago, our core objectives have been to reach out to NPP delegates to vote for Hon. Alan Kyerematen as the next NPP Flagbearer; and to win power in Election 2016. In spite of the clean campaign GAKE has engaged in, some pro-Nana Addo groups have not only threatened to beat and kill me, but have also tried hard to twist facts to suit their whims and caprices.

Yet, after failing to achieve their aim of courting public hatred for Katakyie in order to shut him up, or get rid of him, Nana Addo's Campaign Team has resulted in using social media to continue with their diabolic agenda. They have used abusive words on Nana Addo in a press statement to make it appear that, GAKE 'hates' Nana Addo and that the group's interest lies in causing division in the NPP. Why are those shouting the mantra; "No Nana, No Vote" not being accused of defection, but rather those of us saying; "Get Alan Kyerematen Elected"? We only have one party, that is, the NPP and our current membership of 39,437 cannot defect to any other party.

Whilst disassociating ourselves from such wicked publication, GAKE is calling on all media houses to treat with contempt any statement that attacks Nana Addo's personality and purported to have been 'signed' by GAKE's National Coordinator. They should further check their email addresses, if such publications are sent to them directly by my personal email address of "[email protected]".

Our media men should be abreast with social media, especially watsapp, where anybody could write, or record voice, and place another person's contacts on it. Alan laid bare his vision for both NPP an Ghana on Asempa FM last Wednesday and it was our expectation that the issues he raised would dominate the media this week. However, this has not been the case, a sad case for African politics.

GAKE is not an abusive group, but rather a coalition of NPP delegates who are working hard to get Alan Kyerematen elected as the next NPP Flagbearer to lead the party to victory in 2016. We are also encouraging other members to conduct a clean campaign for their candidates, since whoever emerges the victor at the NPP primaries in December would require the support of all Kukrudites to beat the NDC. On this note, I invite all and sundry to join us on our launching and fundraising on August 3, 2014 at Rexmar Hotel in Kumasi at 2pm.

Long live Ghana! Long live the NPP!! Long live GAKE!!!

...Signed...
Katakyie Kwame Opoku Agyemang ( National Coordinator - 0547851100/0202471070/ [email protected] )
