The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana has admonished media practitioners to be cautious in allowing some 'men of God' use their medium because most of them 'do not deserve' the airtime given them.

According to Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong, 'it is a huge problem and it is only by the grace of God we are surviving now. That is why I always call on you (the Media) not to over pamper some of these people. The media is playing a major role in aiding some of these people'.

'some of our fellow Pastors and Prophets do not deserve the oxygen you give them so take off the oxygen you give them for the greater good'.

He made these comments on NEAT FM's 'Me Man Nti' programme during a telephone interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso to share his opinion on the over 200 Ghanaian football fans who have applied for asylum in Brazil.

According to the group, they feel unsafe to return to Ghana because of religious persecution of Christians by Muslims.

This has come on a wave of condemnation by a cross section of Ghanaians, but the Chief Scribe of the Christian Council was of the view that pain must be taken to conduct a thorough investigation into the reasons for which anyone would want to site such a reason for seeking asylum in another country.

'these people may have reasons for making such excuses and we have to take our time to investigate it and not condemn them because they seem to be dragging the name of the country in disreputewe are not living in a perfect country but there is no tension among religions that is making people flee the country,' he said.

Nonetheless, he maintained that the media must be circumspect in allowing some 'men of God' on their platforms since they do not 'deserve it' .
