Kumasi, July 06, GNA - The leadership of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has been urged to do everything to ensure that the party's structures at all levels are functional ahead of the battle for political power in 2016.

Mr Samuel Kwabena Danso, a former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, said there was an urgent need to inject vibrancy into the party to send strong signal that it was ready to contest and win the general polls - two years away.

There should be no time to waste and they should get down to serious work, he said, when he spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi.

He reminded the leaders to put in place an organizational plan to convince voters that the CPP was in for business and that it was the party they could trust with their votes.

Mr Danso expressed deep upset about what he said was the inaction of the national officers, and said he found it 'difficult to understand what is happening'.

'While, the other opposing political parties were taking steps to organize things to engage in a real contest, the CPP appeared to be showing no signs of life, something' he labelled as unhealthy.

The former Chairman said he had no doubt that when it got its act right, the party could easily win the 2016 polls because it was not carrying any ethnicity baggage.

He rallied genuine members to work with unity of purpose and accept to make the needed sacrifices to restore the CPP to its proper place in Ghanaian politics.
