POLICE DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a 32-year-old Social Welfare worker who disappeared on Sunday June 22, 2014, have arrested a 57-year-old uncle of the deceased.

Yaw Briamah Yusif, a hunter, was arrested on suspicion of murdering Abdul Raman Nutifa Hackeem, his brother's son, in cold blood after leading a search party to discover the remains of the deceased on top of a mountain.

The body was found in a secluded location on the mountain at Brahabebome, a suburb of Obuasi, on Tuesday June 24, 2014, with gunshot wounds on the victim's left thigh by the search party, following an official report made to the police by his father, Yarkoma Hackeem.

The 32-year-old deceased had been working in Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region and went missing after he left home for church service on that Sunday.

Yaw Briamah Yusif, who is being held on suspicion of Hackeem's murder, was remanded by an Obuasi Magistrate Court when he appeared before the court presided over by Michael Kwaku Ampadu.

This was to pave way for a thorough investigation by detectives, and the suspect is expected back in court on July 18, 2014.

Police prosecutor, ASP Daniel Kwabena Darko, told the court that police had retrieved the single-barrel gun of the suspect believed to have been used in committing the crime.

According to him, the suspect informed the victim's father that he (Briamah) had once chanced upon Raman Hackeem on top of the Brahabebome Mountain where he had gone for hunting expedition.

ASP Darko said Briamah then led a search party to the area where the body of the deceased was found at a secluded location with gunshot wounds.
