CPP Executives Murder Is A Political Assassination—CPP UK
29.06.2014 LISTEN

The murder on Monday June 23 of our Comrade, Hayford P. Akrofi has left us, CPP UK & Ireland, his local branch, reeling with shock and revulsion. He served with distinction here in this branch, first as the Regional 2nd Vice Chairman, and recently as a member of the Regional Executive and Steering Committee.

After relocating to Ghana he was appointed Secretary to the Consultative & Coordinating Committee at HQ, where he continued to serve with the utmost professionalism, dedication and commitment until his tragic death.

We are reluctant to accept his death as murder by armed robbers but as a sinister act, indeed as a political assassination. We hold this view after careful consideration of the pivotal roles he has played in the CPP's recent events which are impacting positively on, and shifting public perception of our Party.

Notable of these seismic events are the CPP-led incisive campaigns against the foreign-influenced imposition of the Plant Breeders' Bill ( and GMOs ) by Parliament; the lopsided Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the European Union designed by the European Union to further weaken our national sovereignty and economic development; and the presentation of radical alternative economic policies to address the chronic economic malaise created by the NDC/ NPP duopoly over several decades.

These events, still ongoing, has apparently unsettled very powerful national and international forces. They have reacted in their time-honoured fashion by using weak, corrupt and treacherous proxies within the CPP to create confusion and destabilise our Party.

A coordinated concerted vicious public attack on the leadership of the Party by a group of its senior officials a few weeks ago, is one of the latest manifestations of these sinister forces at work. Comrade Akrofi's unflinching and principled support of all these positive initiatives upset these corrupt cabal of senior Party members. His murder cannot and must not be accepted in isolation as the unwitting victim of an armed robbery gone tragically wrong. It must be seen for what it is, a political assassination linked to all the afore-mentioned events. Comrade H.P. Akrofi was murdered at the behest of their paymasters.

Sadly, incidents of murder, like many other major criminal activities in our long-suffering country, is largely unsolved due to a combination of the relevant authorities' incompetence, corruption, and lack of resources, and the NDC/NPP administrations irresponsible and utter disregard for the concepts of public safety and security. Ghana is now slipping into lawlessness, and it is only a matter of time when it will become a fully-fledged failed state. This is a situation which the CPP is desperately trying to prevent by consistently pointing out to our compatriots the abject failure of the NDC/NPP duopoly to deliver on their promises since 1992. That the only credible alternative is the CPP.

We cling to the faint hope that our comrade's tragic death would not become another statistic on Police records and remain unsolved, like that of another prominent comrade, Alhaji Issah Mobila, also murdered several years ago.

Forward Ever!
