Two students of Galaxy International School, Accra have excelled at the 5 th International Science Olympiad held in Abuja, Nigeria recently.

Philomena Johnson received a silver medal while Rashida Iddrisu got a bronze, both of them SHS 2 students of Galaxy International School, Accra.

Competitors answered 100 multiple questions in three hours and 50 essay questions in five hours in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Literacy, Mathematics and Physics.

The students, who were accompanied to Abuja, Nigeria for the contest, were congratulated by the organizers for their excellent performance in the highly competitive test of wits.

The competition, which took place between 25 th and 31 st May, 2014, was organized by the Nile University, Ministry of Education of Nigeria and the National Mathematical Centre.

Fifty nine students from 17 countries took part in the competition.

The countries include Nigeria, Ghana, Turkey, South Africa, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Niger, Cameroon, Tanzania and Chad.

The rest are Mali, Uganda, Senegal, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Iraq.

One of the seven students, Sena Kazdagli attended the 10 th Dreamline International Design Olympiad in Ankara, Turkey between May 23 rd and 24 th 2014.

Sena's project was titled, 'Transporter Scarf.'
She received a bronze medal. More than 1,000 students submitted their designs but only over 100 were accepted.
