How Rotten Or Professional Are Our Ghana Diplomats Abroad?

Mr. Kingsley Ahenkorah, the official government-appointed butler/assistant and nephew to His Excellency Dr. Seth Koranteng, Ghana's ambassador to Russia has revealed how he almost lost his life after cautioning his uncle ambassador Koranteng against certain vices at the Embassy of Ghana in Moscow.

He was reacting to recent reports of a casino scandal in Japan involving Ghana's Ambassador to Japan. He said worse things happen in some of our missions abroad, audio below.

According to the ambassador's nephew who was speaking to our correspondent from his current US base, he witnessed the flux of official prostitution, trafficking of women and the illegal sale of Ghanaian passports to non-Ghanaians some of which he alleged he was made to carry by the officials. This has been corroborated by other Ghanaians in the audio below who witnessed alleged facilitation of similar vices using embassy letterheads by officials.

The Ghanaian community earlier decried the practice where females that sought consular help at the embassy were coerced to offer sexual favors to officials before certain services were rendered. A few of such women that spoke to our correspondents alleged they were victimized one way or the other for their denials.

Asked why he would expose his cooperative acts with his uncle, Mr. Ahenkorah recalled a painful misunderstanding of his advice by his uncle which caused his forced exit out of Moscow. He said consular officer Inusah Bassit illegally placed a "freeze order" on his Moscow VTB accounts, looting his savings in the process. Calls by Prof Kwame Okoampa Ahoofe for thorough investigations into the alleged theft fell on deaf ears.

Mr. Ahenkorah also revealed the real truth behind the scandalous daily graphic publication of some Ghanaians said to be engaged in prostitution. It will be recalled the Ghana Embassy in Moscow started a media war on Ghanaians in Moscow when consular officer Bassit caused daily graphic to publish names of some Ghanaian women in Russia as practicing prostitution in a report claimed to have been conducted by Russian foreign ministry officials and the Ghana embassy.

While the ambassador, Bassit himself and other embassy officials denied knowledge of the investigations/reports upon confrontation by the victims, head of Graphic Communications Mr. Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo has maintained that they had no way of knowing names of Ghanaians in far away Russia if the names and report had not come from the Ghana embassy officials themselves. The Russian foreign ministry in MOSCOW equally distanced itself from the defamatory report.

Kingsley has however revealed the clandestine circumstances under which his uncle "connived" with Bassit to submit the names to Graphic in the audio below. The names included ex-girlfriends of the consular officer who have all expressed shock and anger at his publication of their names as prostitutes, claiming the real prostitutes have been spared by Inusah and the embassy.

When faced with the reactions from the named victims as well as other evidence adduced by a student researcher into the issue, peacefmonline, modernghana and others have pulled down the story from their website for lack of credibility. This was after current embassy officials said they had no records of any such report/investigations ever done in response to a letter written to them by the student. Read the letter here.

Meanwhile InusahBassit the embattled former consular officer alleged to have deceived a Russian court that President Mills wanted a Ghanaian couple imprisoned for the lady's alleged sex denial in his office continues his escape from the media and accountability. Given an opportunity to deny or explain his side of the story, Inusah Abdul-Bassit currently a student at LECIAD legon, said his accusers are less than seven... that he had done nothing wrong.

In the audio below Bassit tasked the reporter to do sampling opinion about him to see whether the allegations are true or not. This has been described as "childish logic" by AddoAkyeampon, the medico-legal student who discovered the scandal during his project work in Moscow. The ChoiceFm reporter however turned down Bassit's requests for a private meeting, citing advises from his colleagues in other media houses.

Meanwhile another ex girlfriend of InusahBassit has explained in the attached audio some of the reasons she thought was behind the consular officer's desire to sleep with every female that needed his official consular assistance at the embassy. She spoke of a possible health issue, alleged cemetery activism and other acts she called "evil". Kingsley has decided to release full details with documents and evidence on the alleged illegal deals he witnessed at the embassy.

The Ghanaian embassy in Russia has been in the news lately following petitions by a Ghanaian couple that served jail terms in Russia, that their consular officer manipulated the system to get them jailed over what they claim they neither did, nor proven in court they did. Legal aids and representatives of the couple have criticized the approach of the foreign ministry, calling on the ministry to produce Inusah Abdul-Bassit dead or alive to face direct interrogations on his alleged crimes.
