Job Creation Not Mahama’s Responsibility

Job Creation Not Mahamas Responsibility
24.04.2014 LISTEN

I hear a loud chorus in the mouth of many Ghanaians these crucial days. Our fathers sung it and many youths are still singing it more loudly and have become so amplified that we even dream and think about it.

The chorus of “No Employment” and the first stanza of “Mahama give us jobs” has become the dirge of many unemployed graduates. We will try to pardon the unskilled and illiterates in our society but should the graduates be spared of this act? I see it as an unpardonable crime to let loose graduates who cry for jobs and insult government of the increasing rates of unemployment. If there is anything that saddens the heart of God nowadays, it is the unholy cry of Ghanaian graduates over unemployment rates.

Any country that lags in development has the potential of becoming great if she can stop complaining and begin to channel attention towards identification of opportunities. Every country can become great if it can focus on harnessing and developing the human capital of her youth and reorient their minds for positive thinking through relevant and effective structures and systems.

The chance of Ghanaian youths creating jobs for themselves lies in their strength because they make-up the government and makes it governance meaningful. Many Ghanaians have become like the “Ghana Map”, we are pregnant with lot of resources and potentials but still do not know we are heavily endowed than other developed countries.

Many people, especially expatriates are exploiting and teaching us how to use what we have. We are still living in the Jacob and Esau generation. It's a shame to know that many of our youths don't know their potential, purpose and usefulness in the development of our nation. The legend Bob Marley sung and said “In the absence of water, the fool is still thirsty” (Rat Race). We are too blessed to be in a rat race in this 21st century. We can blame our presidents the day we realize and discover God has “deposited all our talents and wisdom in them. We must help our presidents and leaders to create jobs and stop singing the chorus of “No Employment”.

Research from developed nations proves that all the Mega Industries and High income earning companies are establishment of Passionate Individuals who identified a need and provided for that need. Wherever the masses see problems, an entrepreneurial minded person sees an opportunity. Entrepreneurship isn't about profit making but the ability to “Do something”. We must channel complains and the songs of unemployment to engage in positive and productive thinking.

Others may say where is the capital to start with? Nobody ever starts a business with money; Money is just a fragment of what you need to get your business running. As it was written by “Zig Ziglar” in his book on 'SELLING' “Marketing is the oldest profession in the World” It is not just a Programme but a life time career”. What you need is to market the ideas to someone who has the resource you need to start. Individualism and selfishness is what's killing many talented and productive youth who have great mind and ideas. People can duplicate your ideas but they can't duplicate your passion to succeed.

Let us educate ourselves to stop complaining and singing the failures of our past and challenge ourselves to succeed. Let the talkative give out the platform for the doers to prove a point.

Let Africa Arise and let Ghanaians break the shield of politics of blaming our leaders. We have been uniquely graced to succeed in divers' fields.
