As part of her community development exercise, the chairperson, Warri-North Local Government Area, Mrs. Ovie Edun, at the Council Secretariat, Koko, distributed bags of fertilizer and cassava stems to forty female farmers, to boost cassava production in the area.

While addressing the beneficiaries, the council chairperson stated that the exercise was in line with the present mantra of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan's "Delta beyond oil" initiative. She then called on the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items given to them so as to boost food production in the council area.

Responding, the president, Cassava Farmers Association, Warri-North chapter, Comrade Edward Odeworitse Obonrighomi lauded the gesture of the Mrs. Ovie Edun towards boosting cassava production in the area, saying that such incentives would go a long way in assisting the women in getting a good harvest.

He appealed for a greater participation by the beneficiaries, calling on the chairperson to include the youth and male members of the association in subsequent exercise.

Comrade Edward Odeworitse Obonrighomi disclosed that a day would be fixed for the chairperson to monitor the use of the items given in some marked out farms of some beneficiaries.

There was an on-the-spot demonstration of fertilizer application on cassava stems, to enable the farmers know the techniques involved in fertilizer application so as to get optimum result during harvesting.
