Akuapem-Akropong, April 23, GNA - A dedication ceremony of a new chapel and manse for the Grace Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Akuapem-Akropong has been performed.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, and wife Matilda and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana the Rt Rev Professor Emmanuel Martey, were among dignitaries who joined the congregation at the dedication ceremony.

In a brief speech, the Vice President said the church is not just the physical structure, but a spiritual abode where Christians find the love of God at all times.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur used the occasion to praise the leadership and members of the church for exhibiting unity, which has helped in pulling resources together to build the chapel.

He encouraged members of the Grace congregation to reach out to people with the message of salvation, the reason for which Christ came into the world, which also signifies Easter.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur observed that it was phenomenal for the chapel to be dedicated at Easter, and the house would be used for the glory of God.

The Rt. Rev. Prof. Martey, in a sermon said, fellowship is one of the strengths of Christians, and encouraged members of the congregation not to forsake the assembly of the saints.

Deserving members of the congregation were given awards for their contributions to the growth of the church over the years.

The church was established in 1996, by the Grace Team, led by Evangelist Dr. Ebenezer Abboah-Offei.

Its maiden service was held in one of the classrooms in a former girls school, with some 33 initial members.

The church now has 2,500 members. The 5,000-capacity edifice took eight years to complete.
