Over hundred residents of Agona- Afamaaso in the Sekyere South District of Ashanti have been rendered homeless after a rampaging storm hit the community two days ago.

In some cases the entire roofing of the mud houses were blown off, exposing the structure to rain.

Luv News counted about 20 affected houses and schools during a visit earlier today.

Victims, who are now putting up with relatives and friends, appeal for relief from state agency, NADMO.

“At 9 o'clock when the storm started, we heard some strange noise from the roof, suddenly it was blown away exposing our room to the rains.

“I and my five children run through the rains to find a place to sleep in a friend's house.” One of the victims narrated.

“We have nowhere to sleep now, if authorities do not intervene now, my children and I would be sleeping around.” Another appealed.

The disaster comes as residents of three communities in the Atwima Nwabiagya District who suffered similar fate last week-end, are still waiting for state support.

Incidentally, schools are going on break toady for Easter, which takes the pressure, at least, temporarily, off authorities and children of affected schools.

Elder Kofi Asare a Head-teacher and unit committee Secretary in the community cried out.

“The school building is under construction so the disaster adds to the cost. Beside the vacation is short so if authorities do not come to our aid quickly, the student may resume and have nowhere to learn.”
