Reports reaching The Catalyst from Afosu in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region indicate that the management of North Birim Rural Bank, formerly known as Asuopra Rural Bank, have shut the doors of the bank, leaving customers in a state of confusion and agony.

For the past week or two the doors of the bank have been closed without any information to the numerous customers and their attempts to reach the Chairman, Mr. Alex Asiedu, have failed because he is not picking his calls.

This new development leaves both current customers and old ones wondering what their fate is as their savings remain unaccounted for by the bank.

For the past six (6) years or so, customers of the bank have not been able to cash their own monies saved with the bank without any tangible reason from the management. Those who started doing business with the financial institution after change in management have added up to the number of customers whose monies remained locked up.

Several petitions by the customers have fallen on deaf ears as things worsen for these unfortunate Ghanaians who remain unsure of their fate.

The Catalyst is informed that some of the customers are in a state of destitution, having lost all their pension money they saved with the bank immediately they took it.

The Bank of Ghana has been silent on this case in spite of numerous publications and a petition sent to them some time ago.

The customers of North Birim Rural Bank, formerly known as Asuopra Rural Bank, have been denied access to their own monies saved with the Bank for some years now until a new investor, one Mr. Alex Asiedu, took over its assets, giving it its new name.

More To Come.....
