17.04.2014 LISTEN
By Emeka Ahaneku

The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has enjoined Christians all over the World to imbibe the spirit of love, forgiveness and tolerance to one another as they commemorate the sufferings, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In his Ester message, the Speaker described the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the best thing that had happened to Christians, adding that such sacrifice brought hope and re-united man with God.

Hon. Uwajumogu, however, called on the Christian faithful to emulate the humility and obedience of Jesus Christ even at the point of death, maintaining that with such wise decision, the state and the country would be a better place when adherents make peaceful co-existence their watchword.

He advised the Citizenry to shun all negative acts capable of truncating the mood of the season, pointing that Easter should be a season when the faithful reflect on the passions of Jesus Christ.

The Speaker used the opportunity of the celebration to call on the perpetrators of violence in the country to sheath their swords and maintain peace which Christ represented on earth.

He further urged motorists to be mindful of road signs and the rights of other road users as they carry out their activities during the season, stressing that such caution would help in nipping the incidences of road crashes in the bud.
