The new First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Freddie Blay yesterday returned to the residence of the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu to express gratitude to him for praying for him, the party's personalities and the success of the conference in Tamale.

Before departing for Tamale to contest for the  position, which he eventually won, he had sought the spiritual intervention of the Islamic cleric for a successful conference and God's protection for all delegates and supporters who had converged on the Northern Regional capital.

Mr. Freddie Blay also asked the Chief Imam to pray for the speedy recovery of Kwabena Agyepong following a vehicular accident he was involved in on the Accra-Kumasi Road close to the conference date.

Mr. Blay told the Chief Imam that 'I am here to express gratitude for the prayers you said for me and the rest of the party. We have had a successful conference devoid of broken bones by God's grace. We are here therefore to thank you and to ask that you continue to pray for us. Sometimes one is unable to sleep given the enormity of the responsibilities on our shoulders as leaders of the party. We would need your support in these challenging times so that unity would prevail in the party. Please pray for us to be humble in the discharge of our responsibilities.

'This would not be my last trip to your residence. I would continue to come here to seek God's blessings and support through you so that the NPP and the country at large would witness successes.'

In his response, the National Chief Imam told his guest that 'we have heard about your success. This is your second home and my doors are always open for you.

It is our responsibility to pray for the nation's peace and prosperity. When we pray for you and the nation we are praying for ourselves.'

Mr. Blay was accompanied on the trip by his Campaign Manager, Alhaji Rashid Bawa, former Ghana's envoy to Saudi Arabia and one-time Sports Minister.
