Campaign For Akufo-Addo Else—Ken Agyapong Warns
15.04.2014 LISTEN

NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene-Agyapong, has described the perception that the newly elected national executives are set to sabotage the party's two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo's ambition to lead the party again as 'unfortunate'.

According to him, their appointments is rather to unite the party than the rift been predicted within the party and by some political analysts.

He noted that, majority of the supporters are yelling for Nana Addo's come back therefore any attempt to disrupt that call will be a catastrophe.

“There is one thing in the NPP, if they [supporters] decide for something and any leader go against that, then that person will be in trouble and they [new executives] know. For now, I don't know who is for Nana and who is not for Nana. We are all NPP members,” he said.

Speaking on Accra-based Adom FM, outspoken Kennedy Agyapong cautioned the new executives to shun any attempt to sideline “the people's choice” [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo].

“Whether they like it or not, Ghanaians are calling for Nana Addo and if they refuse to present him, they will vote against us [NPP]. I still support Nana and I agree with the supporters because they are the people going to vote for us.

“…If the newly elected Chairman and the General Secretary are against Nana Addo, then they are going to lose. I will make sure they are voted out from office just as I did to Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey [former NPP chairman and Sir John [General Secretary].

“…Nana Addo will not suffer anything because he is more popular in the party than anyone. All we [NPP] need is power so if the executives campaign against Nana Addo, we will resist them. I can assure,” he lamented.

However, he categorically said, “by all means, Nana Addo must lead the NPP”.
