BOANKRA IN LAND PORT; ANOTHER ABANDONED ECONOMICAL VIABLE PROJECT.

BOANKRA IN LAND PORT; ANOTHER ABANDONED ECONOMICAL VIABLE PROJECT.
15.04.2014 LISTEN

The Boankra Inland Port a collaborative effort between Ghana shipper's council and GPHA with some supports from government of Ghana to facilitate easy export and import of goods has come to abrupt end.

The project which was suppose to ease the burden of import and export activities faces in the middle and northern belt of Ghana as well as the neighboring country for has Ceased for no apparent reason.

Just like any GOG project with a political connotation especially immediately power change hands such as Suhum Nsawam section of the know Accra Kumasi road bushes has taken over the site of supposed Boakra inland port.

I suspect miscreant around are using the abandoned facilities under construction as a haven for their nocturnal wee smoking and other unbeneficial activities.

I know definitely the initiators of that project were aware that without a proper railway system in place that fine project can't function effectively.

Anyway they could be pardoned with the excuse that if they had stayed in power for long they would have ensure the railway line was fixed yet to gain political points they decided to revamp the Tema -Accra railway line which at peak periods take about sixty commuters.

verily that doesn't give justification to those in charge now not to immediately seek funds to work on the projects and fix the railway line from Nsawam and stop continues deliberations as to where to secure funds for the completion of the project because the amount we hear have been spent on consultations alone is enough to clear the bushes surrounding the site.

In fact that will allow people traveling to and fro on that stretch of the road to have a view of the current state of the project so they can make their judgment on how we have allow our countries had earned revenue to go wastes.

The purpose of that project which received support from GHANA government in line to construct a rail line system was to facilitate easy export and import trade in the country.

The project if executed will give good economic prospects for this country in terms of trade because n the transit good now at Tema harbor will be at this news port to cut cost of the neighboring countries who hither too would travelled to Tema.

With all this prospects the projects stands to offer Ghana ten years after its commencement no one can authoritatively tell when his or her president will commission it.

In fact if care is not taken it will follow suit of build electricity project which started in Nkrumah's time and finished in mahatmas time.

Even that will bring joy to us as 64 year after it commencement Ghana had the reason to celebrate though there are still in partial darkness.

This reminds me of the jubilee oil which we thought after hundred years of research and practice could have helped at least our gas energy project rather its generated controversy on whether Ghana owes Nigeria or not.

In think as it stands now some obviously financial loss to the state has taken place or some miscalculation was done resulting to the failure of such a convincing and worthy idea to establish such a economic available venture to rot in the eyes of Ghana leaders port.

I am saying that if that project has come to fruition it would have reduced the congestion at Tema port, road accidents and minimized vehicular traffic to at least allay fears of containerized vehicle going to ditch in the populous areas.

Importers ,exporters and clearing and forwarding agents would have had some comforts demurrages would have been minimizing given no shipping line the chance to charge exorbitantly making doing business at the ports less.

I am appealing fervently to the Ghana government to as a matter of urgency contract alone or partner with Meridian Ports Services (MPS) or those who came to Manage golden Jubilee Terminal or safe bond Terminal or in Tema to make that project realty.
