Scientists discuss how to stimulate growth

Dubbed The Otumfuo International Science Forum, the event would be under the joint auspices of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu the second, the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), the Ghana Institute of Engineers, and other renowned scientists. .

The event which is slated for May 8 and 9, would bring together eminent Ghanaian and foreign scientists, to brainstorm and find solutions to socio-economic and technological challenges confronting the country.

The conference would be held under the theme Promoting Creativity and Innovation Through Science, Technology and Enterprise.

A statement signed by Mr. Kofi Badu, Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, and copied to the GNA in Kumasi on Monday, said this forms part of activities marking the 15th anniversary of the installation of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu as the 16th Asante King.

The statement said to make the conference more meaningful, policy makers, including the executive and legislative arms of government, financial experts and those from commerce, industry, the energy and mining sectors, would be present.

It said an exhibition will run alongside the programme, to showcase Ghanaian achievements in scientific endeavours, as well as the global opportunities available for Ghanaians to tap into.
