Chief assisted students to register as voters

Nkoranza (B/A) April 11, GNA - University Students in Nkoranza district in Brong-Ahafo have commended Nana Amoateng Ameyaw II, Chief of Amoma for assisting them to travel from their institutions to their respective towns to participate in the just ended voters registration exercise. Nana Ameyaw is reported to have spent 12.5 million cedis on the transport expenses of about 90 students of the University of Ghana, Legon, University of Cape Coast and the University of Education, Winneba among other Universities.

Mr Joshua Effah-Agyapong from Bonsu, near Nkoranza and a student at the Methodist University in Accra at the weekend told Ghana News Agency that he chief assisted them to travel to their homes to participate in the exercise He described Nana Ameyaw as a good leader who was really concerned about the development of his community and prayed for God's blessings for the chief.

Mr Effah-Agyapong called on other public-spirited citizens of the area to emulate the chief and to assist the needy and marginalized in the communities to enable them to improve their living conditions. He advised the youth in the area to be disciplined, law-abiding and respectful to people in authority so they could in turn command respect from the people.

Mr Effah-Agyapong urged his colleague students to return to the district after the completion of their education to assist in the development of the area.

He called on the people to avoid negative tendencies that could adversely affect the electioneering campaigns and the general election in December.

Mr. Effah-Agyapong advised the people of Nkoranza not to allow party politics to divide them "because before the formation of political parties, Nkoranza existed".
