Dear MEU,

A Letter Of Appreciation From Ghana Liberal Students Association To Model European Union-Madrid!

Our collective aim as Ghana Liberal Students Association and the Alumni is to build a stronger institution under the tenets of liberal ideology. It is in this wisdom that the founders of this association with the help of Frederich Nauman Foundation (Ghana) targeted the youth of the society via the nations institutions. As we speak now, our branches have spread across the nation and we can boast of our members who are Members of Parliament, Lawyers, Economist, and etc that are product of GHALSA contributing effectively to the building of our nation.

However, Democracy is process and it's in this philosophy that GHALSA applied for membership with International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) and Frederich Nauman Foundation (FNF) to enlighten members with respect to the tenets of Democracy and International politics. Time might not permit me to mention our members who had had the privilege to attend to workshops and seminars organized by these two main organizations and the amount of impact we had in our democracy and institution.

Today, we wish to express our exclusive gratitude to MEU-Madrid for the space they created for one of our members to participate in their last program they had in Madrid. Even though he is yet to do his 'report back' to GHALSA, we wish to state that the in-depth knowledge he has shared with us in respect of how effective European institutions work is enormous.

According to our representative, Phandoh Kwamena, he was given the role of MP, specifically MP for Belgium and he said “when it comes to business of the house or parliament, prior notice in the form of documentation are given to the members of the House, this makes room for better research, effective and fruitful discussion as well as transparency” He further stated that, “if Ghana's parliamentary system will be result delivery and effective, it is prudent that members of the house are given enough room to contribute effectively business' of the house and that can only be achieved when members are given enough space and time to research and deliberate on the issues before they come to Parliament” he alluded that “our parliamentary system is weak also because of how the minority is perceived as enemy and therefore everything they say is born of ill intend and purpose”

As part of our tradition, Phandoh Kwamena, who is currently living in China will prepare his' report back' this week to GHALSA members and we are hopeful that it will enrich our democracy again.

On behalf of the executives of GHALSA Alumni I wish to express my gratitude for such a great opportunity given to us by your outfit, MEU-Madrid. We hope in the future, similar chances shall be granted for more participation and education.

Alandu Frank
Alumni and fmr. President (GHALSA)
