Bawku West assembly undertakes development project.

Zebilla, March 30, GNA- The Bawku West District Assembly embarking on a number of development projects to bring relief to its deprived communities. The projects include the rehabilitation of dams and roads.

The DCE, Mr. Moses Abaare Appiah, who announced this when he addressed an executive committee meeting of the assembly at Zebilla on Monday, said three dams at Sakom, Timonde and Zebilla would be rehabilitated at a total cost of over 123 million cedis to offer irrigation facilities to the people. He said two other dams have been approved for the communities of Widnaba and Apodabogo in the annual action plan while tender bids have been opened for Kobore-Yarigu irrigation dam to be awarded on contract.

On roads, Mr. Appiah said the assembly will spend 49 million cedis to create an access road from Zabzoaga to Yelwoko to enable that community utilise the nearest health facility in the district. He appealed to members to support and advise him on issues that would help lift the people out of their state of deprivation.

Mr. Appiah announced that the district has been selected to get on board the second phase of the Rural Enterprises Project, saying the overall objective of the project is poverty alleviation in rural areas especially for women and vulnerable groups.
