Akilu Sayibu With Kwabena Adjei Agyepong

I embarked on a conscious journey to interact with the various aspirants for the position of General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). My conclusion is that Kwabena Adjei Agyepong best qualifies to lead the NPP into election 2016.

I have been a member of the NPP since 1992 but I was amazed of the sterling knowledge and understanding of happenings in the NPP by Kwabena. He knows every electoral constituency of the country. He has interacted extensively with the people and therefore has firsthand knowledge of the basic problems facing party organisation of the NPP from the polling stations to the national level.

With his appreciation of the fundamental challenges of the party at all facets, it is my believe that he sure can make a good General Secretary when given the opportunity by the delegates of the great NPP.

My observation is that, for someone to qualify to be the GS of the NPP, that person must not compromise on self independence. He should be someone who goes with the grassroots supporters of the NPP but not hero worshiping personalities. This, I believe, Kwabena will do for the Party.

He sees the NPP to be bigger than any individual and that will be very positive for the next GS of the NPP if such a person is to make a good administrator or impact on the fortunes of the party positively.

One other quality I noticed about Kwabena when I interacted with him is that he is so passionate about getting things done in timely fashion. If this very laudable attribute is brought on board in the administration of the NPP from every level, then deadlines in terms of party organisation will always be met.

The ability of Kwabena to generate funds for the NPP and other projects is unblemished! If he is given the opportunity as General Secretary, it is my view that he will be able to raise the needed funds for party mobilisation and organisation for victory 2016.

The worry of many political observers in Ghana is that, language usage in its refined stage is eventually eluding political discourses in Ghana. It is my understanding that if he is elected as General Secretary, his calm and concise use of the right words at all times will make other General Secretaries to distil their mode of political communication.

Kwabena with his youthful outlook has already endeared himself to the many youth in the NPP and other political parties in Ghana. It is my conviction that he will be able to attract many other people into the party. He is full of wonderful ideas. The youth of the NPP feel comfortable and alright talking to him and this would definitely inure to the benefit of the NPP when he is voted as the next General Secretary.

My advice to delegates of the national congress of the NPP in March of this year is that they should vote for persons whose loyalties are to the NPP and not any individual.

Individuals will come and go but the NPP never dies.
