Koforidua, Dec. 17 GNA-Mr Prince Owusu Nyarko, Koforidua Area Sales Manager of Scancom Ghana Limited, operators of MTN, has said the company would continue to be committed to its corporate social responsibility.

He said this at a town hall meeting in Kofforidua on Tuesday to explain the operations of the company to their customers.

He said the MTN Foundation had invested over GH¢13million in community development projects in the areas of health, education, economic and empowerment.

Mr Nyarko said since its inception in November 2007, the MTN Ghana Foundation had implemented more than 50 educational projects including 17 school blocks and 22 ICT centres of which 10 were built in collaboration with the UNDP and 30 health projects.

He said in the Eastern Region, the Foundation had invested over GH¢ 1.4 million in health, education and economic empowerment projects.

Mr Nyarko also expressed concern about rampant cuts of its fiber optic cables which continued to be a major challenge and said this undermined the company's ability to provide quality services to its subscribers.

Mr Nyarko said the frequent damage being caused to the company's fiber optic cables imposed a huge cost on the service provider but most importantly created difficulties for customers.

He said the company would continue to work hard to ensure that customers are given better and quality services.

Some of the participants expressed concern about some challenges they sometimes went through when using the MTN services and appealed to authorities to do something about them.
