Mr.Partrick Amofa, Patron of Water and Energy Conservation Organisation(WECO) at St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi has appealed to the Ghana Tourist Authority and the Government of Ghana to improve conditions at the various tourist centres in the country to make them more attractive to tourist.

Mr. Partrick Amofa, made the appeal to the media on Tuesday at St. Louis SHS in Kumasi after he led some of the WECO members of the school to Barekese Dam in the Ashanti Region

The purpose of the educational tour by the students was to help them to have first hand experience about treatment of water for domestic usage.

Mr. Amofa, noted that the time had come for Ghana Tourist Authority to work hard to improve conditions at various centers in the country to make it more learning friendly environment for tourists.

He observed that some of the tourist centers in the country lack facilities like good roads, electricity and recreational sites.

He stated that local people mostly teachers considered it to be unhappy and unsafe to embark on educational tour with their students which could be seen as one of the most effective way of teaching and learning because of the high risk of sending students for such tour.

Mr. Amofa explained that one way for improving the local tourism was to make tourist centers more attractive to local people.
